PERSISTENT ELSEWHERE N.2
PERSISTENT ELSEWHERE
2026 - CURRENTLY UNDER DEVELOPMENT
Persistent Elsewhere is a real-time VR immersive essay being developed in Unreal Engine 5. It takes up Timothy Morton's concept of the hyperobject, entities so vast in time and space that they resist direct perception, and approaches it through corporeal experience, asking how the body can register what the mind struggles to hold. Its environments are generated through a terrain pipeline that combines GIS cartographic data (QGIS) with procedural landscape generation (Gaea 2) and biome systems, translating real geographies into navigable, sensory terrain. The work extends my ongoing research into body-as-territory and the entanglements between bodies and living ecosystems. Development began during a residency at TRAKK / KIKK / CCN Namur in 2026 and continues.
